Medal of Heroism
Our Department's Highest honor, it is awarded to uniformed members who, by such intrepid display of gallantry, distinguishes himself or herself in a conspicuous manner at the extreme risk of their life. The deed performed must have been a voluntary act of personal courage and self sacrifice above their coworkers, and involving extreme risk of life known to the member before preforming the deed.
The colors on the ribbon have special meaning:
Gold-honor and excellence.
Red-courage and sacrifice.
Blue-dedication, loyalty and unity.
Maltese Cross
This medal is to be awarded to any uniformed member who has performed a courageous act under conditions of extreme danger and at the exceptional risk of bodily injury. The deed performed clearly exceeds what is required and has resulted in the protection of life in a manner considered exceptionally valiant. The colors on the ribbon have special meaning:
Red-courage and sacrifice.
Blue-dedication, loyalty and unity.
Purple Heart
This medal may be awarded to any uniformed member who has been seriously wounded, killed or has succumbed to injuries received while involved in an emergency incident, training exercise or training evolution.
The Purple color on the ribbon represents valor and bravery.
Citation of Merit
The citation may be awarded to any uniformed member or department employee for exceptional service rendered to the department, city, county, state, other outside agencies or the general public.
The colors have special meaning:
Blue-dedication, loyalty, and unity.
Silver-perseverance and success.
Unit Citation
The citation may be awarded to any department unit at the company level or equivalent for acts of heroism, valor, meritorious service, or outstanding achievement during the execution of emergency operations or other department supported activities.
The colors have special meaning:

Silver-perseverance and success.
