100 Club 

What they offer: Serves the families of fallen local, state & federal first responders, and severely injured active duty first responders and their families in Bexar County. We provide financial assistance, active-duty safety training, and coping, counseling & mental health services. Any other important information: Graciously providing meals to staff workers.


What they offer: Aflac cancer insurance is here to help you and your family better cope financially and emotionally—if a positive diagnosis of cancer ever occurs.
Any other important information: Will Highlight their Cancer Policy and answer any questions regarding their products. 


American Cancer Society 

What they offer: Programs and services to help you during and after cancer treatment. They also help you find other free or low-cost resources available.


The Birdwell Foundation

What they offer:  To provide warrior and family support groups to the Veteran and First Responder communities for PTSD


Benevolent Fund 

What they offer: Provides assistance to active and retired firefighters, their families and others not necessarily associated with the Benevolent Fund who, became of unforeseen circumstances are in need of assistance. Its mission includes providing a memorial tribute. Programs include providing flowers and donations for fallen firefighters and family members, as well as assistance for active and retired firefighters.

What is offered: Perform a DNA test that detects abnormal esophageal cells, such as Barrett's Esophagus, precancerous cells with dysplasia and cancer.

Requirement: NO Food or Drinks (2) two hours prior to exam, bring ID/Insurance cards.

If you would like to be screened for esophageal pre-cancer/cancer and have three (3) of the risk factors listed below, 
Chronic acid reflux/heart burn or GERD symptoms
o    Male
o    >50 years old
o    White race
o    Tobacco smoking

Family history of Barrett’s Esophagus or Esophageal Adenocarcinoma (cancer) in a first-degree relative
Occupational or environmental exposure (smoke inhalation/fire/chemicals)

Any other important information: They have partnered with Upscripts, a NO COST individualized telemedicine service (and if candidate is pre-approved for event, formal order will be issued before event to reduces wait-time). They also notify the patient of their results from board-certified physicians and send certified letters in mail. 

Lucid Diagnostics accepts all insurance plans and directly bills your medical insurance carrier for the EsoGuard test. Their team is focused on gaining EsoGuard coverage.
What to expect
01 Lucid Diagnostics Notification
Lucid Diagnostics will send you a notification that a claim has been submitted to your insurance provider with a consent form **optional to complete** that allows Lucid Dignostics to appeal on your behalf if your insurance provider denies the claim. 
02 Claim Submission
Lucid Diagnostics will submit a claim for the EsoGuard DNA test to your insurance provider directly. 
03 Explanation of Benefits
Once your claim has been processed, your insurance provider will send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) which explains whether the provider has approved or denied the claim. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A BILL.
04 Patient Portion
If your insurance provider denies the claim, Lucid Diagnostics will work on your behalf and appeal the denial. If the claim is denied after appeals, Lucid Diagnostics considers it adjudicated, and NO further patient follow-up occurs. 

If your claim is approved by your insurance provider, there MAY be patient out-of-pocket responsibility due to co-insurance or deductible requirements set by your insurance provider. Lucid Diagnostics will bill you for the patient responsibility portion, as is required by law. 

•    CURRENTLY, they do NOT refer unpaid claims to a collection agency. They offer various financial assistance programs for patients. If you receive a bill, please contact their team at 1-888-LucidDx for further assistance before paying anything.

Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN)

What they offer: To assist firefighters and EMS providers and their immediate families diagnosed with cancer by providing badge to badge support, training and guidance.


Health by Design

What they offer: Primary and specialty care including Care Navigation, Diabetes Care, Endocrinology, Health and Nutritional Coaching, Integrated Behavioral Health Services, and Physical Therapy. All 3 wellness centers are available to members of The Fund and their families free of charge.
Any other important information: Will offer Wellness Vouchers! Health by Design offers two tests that can screen for as many as 50 different types of cancer. Both tests require a simple blood draw and your physician will review your results or contact you sooner if any abnormalities need to be discussed. 
Hereditary Cancer Test: My Risk is a one-time hereditary test to evaluate 48 genes associated with 11 different types of cancers. This test used in combination with familial history to offer personalized guidance for patients and providers to work together to reduce risk of developing cancer or detect it at an earlier, more treatable stage. PRICE: 95% of private insurance companies have coverage for hereditary cancer testing. Based on your insurance provider, out-of-pocket cost may vary from $0 to $249.
Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test: Galleri is a multi-cancer early detection test to identify active cancer signals across more than 50 types for select patients with elevated risks. If a cancer signal is detected, the results point to where in the body the cancer signal is coming from. This can help your healthcare provider determine your next steps and if additional screenings are recommended in the future. PRICE: $949

What they offer: They are the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers. Since 1949, we've invested more than $1.7 billion in groundbreaking research, pioneering many of today's most innovative approaches.

UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson - Mays Cancer Center

What they offer: They are among a select number of programs partnering with MD Anderson Cancer Center. You receive the same leading-edge care their experts provide, close to home. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has recognized their commitment to high-quality care. As the only NCI-designated cancer center in Central and South Texas, they are part of an elite network of programs and deliver trusted care. It is also a proud part of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, known as UT Health San Antonio. This academic medical center provides leading care that research has shown to be effective as well as advances cancer care through clinical trials and research.

Nationwide Retirement Solutions

What they offer: Providing deferred compensation plans that you can contribute a portion of your salary to a retirement account. That money and any earnings you accumulate are not taxed until you withdraw them.


National Teachers Associates Life Insurance (NTA) Company

What they offer: Providing tailored supplemental health and life insurance products and services for educators, emergency responders, and government employees.

In addition to the academic offerings, the University provides services to the local communities through the Community Counseling Service (CCS) for counseling and psychological testing and the Harry Jersig Speech-Language-Hearing Center.


Ortho San Antonio What they offer: Comprehensive treatment for orthopedic conditions and sports injuries. Sports med doctors will be on-site to provide information. 


Personal Exposure Reporting from California Professional Firefighters

What they offer:  California Professional Firefighters’ PERSONAL EXPOSURE REPORTING (PER) APP offers an easy, secure, and comprehensive method of recording your exposure to cancer-causing chemicals and biological toxins. These reports provide critical documentation needed in Workers’ Compensation cases involving job-related illnesses and in medical diagnosis for those illnesses. Using the confidential PER website, you can keep a private record of: Incident information, Nature and duration of exposure, medical symptoms experienced, medical diagnosis and treatment, and Recurring exposures on the job (diesel fuel, etc.). Best of all, reporting is secure. You create your own name and password, and the information is encrypted for your protection. PER is YOUR record. Nobody can access your records except you. The records you create are yours forever ... even after you retire.

CPF’s online PER system is available to any firefighter at a nominal cost: $15 a year.



What they offer: Providing care for family members that cannot use the SAFD Wellness Center Athletic Trainers with a new business that will do that.


Responders First Foundation

What they offer: Provide to San Antonio firefighters and others not necessarily associated with the Foundation (firefighters from other cities coming to San Antonio for medical attention, for example) who, because of unforeseen circumstances (such as a cancer diagnosis, other diseases, debilitating injury on the job, etc.), need assistance.


What they offer: Receive donations through Blood & Platelets, Research, Cord Blood & Birth Tissue, Tissue, and Charitable Donations. 
Any other important information: Will ONLY be present Sunday, February 4th from 9am-2:30pm BloodMobile will be located behind Apparatus Bay parking lot. IF you donate at this event, you can still get (4) four hours of Comp Time!

Responders First Foundation

What they offer: Offering more than 15 cancer treatment center locations, convenient parking, and easy access to leading cancer care experts. Provides comprehensive cancer treatment and compassionate cancer care to patients using leading-edge technologies and innovative treatments.


Texas State University

What they offer: Researchers from Texas State University are recruiting participants for a study on PFAS exposure and cognitive function in firefighters.  They are recruiting licensed firefighters who have completed at least five years of service with their assigned fire stations and are currently on active duty.  Volunteers who complete the survey & cognitive assessment will receive a $30 Amazon gift card.

ThriveWell Cancer Foundation

What they offer: Dedicated to finding a cure for cancer by funding cancer research, providing patient support and offering programs to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.


United Diagnostic Services

What they offer: The program that we believe to be best deployed for the early detection of cardiovascular disease and cancer is the UDS ultrasound-based tests. This is a gold-standard comprehensive program that consists of 9 body parts and organs:
Echocardiogram (Valve function, Heart Pumping Ejection Fraction), Carotid Doppler, Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), Liver, Spleen, Kidney, Bladder Ultrasound, Pelvic (External Women only), Testicular (Men only) 

Additional services included: Onsite program delivery, Complete report from a  Radiologist and Cardiologist, Nurse Practitioner Positive Result Consultation (telemedicine call), 2nd Outreach for abnormal results with coordination of care

Any other important information: FREE scans based on seniority and PAID scan available per day – PAID scans are $325, HSA/FSA eligible.

Participants need to fast for eight (8) hours prior to the exam.  During this time, they can drink limited water.  About an hour to 1 ½ hours prior to the exam, you will need to drink 32 ounces of water.

The University of Miami – Firefighter Cancer Initiative

What they offer: An effort led by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The goal of the initiative is to determine whether firefighters’ work environment increase their risk for cancer.
