The San Antonio Fire Department Fire Training Academy is proud to announce another Citizen’s Fire

Academy to start on April 14th 2022.

Weekly classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm through June 30th 2022.

There will be one week when class will be held on a Saturday morning for CPR training.

This class is to help inform participants on the way the SAFD operates and to educate citizens about fire

safety.

This class is not designed to train a person to be a firefighter nor qualify the participant to have a job as

a firefighter with SAFD or any other department.

Some of the things that we will be covering during the Citizen’s Fire Academy are:

• Learn about the history of the SAFD and visit the SA Fire Museum

• See what SAFD firefighters have to go through to be hired as firefighters

• Ride out with and experience the Fire Operations Division

• Become CPR certified

• Take a field trip to the Emergency Operations Center and Fire/EMS Dispatch Center

• Tour the SAFD Fire Training Academy campus

• Put on the gear that firefighters wear

• Learn to use a fire extinguisher and then extinguish a small controlled fire

• Demonstration of different fire apparatus that the SAFD operates

• Opportunity to extinguish training props

• Experience zero-visibility in the fire training building

• Operate a thermal imaging camera in zero-visibility.

This is intended to be a fun and informative class. Please come and join us and

Learn more about the operations of the San Antonio Fire Department and how we
